Hi, I’m Matteo Coutarel, a 20-year-old graphic design student with a passion for exploring creativity in all its forms. Currently developing my skills and knowledge, I’m deeply invested in understanding how design shapes our interactions with the world. I love using a scanner to capture textures, patterns, and organic shapes in my daily life — it’s my way to connect nature and urbanity through design.
This merchandise project is about Caroline Polachek and her album Desire, I Want to Turn Into You. It captures the essence of the album’s experimental and emotive themes, blending bold typography with visually striking elements.
This project reflects my passion for storytelling through light and emotion, inspired by Submarine by The Marías. I created a melancholic, blue-drenched composition that evokes longing—a woman caught between hope and despair. The blue tones embody introspection, while shadows and highlights convey vulnerability and strength.
For this project, I developed a comprehensive brand identity for "Abyss," a fictional deep-sea research organization specializing in submarine exploration and marine discovery. In this branding system, I combined bold typography with a striking red and white color palette to create a memorable and professional identity.
For this project, I created a complete album package for Laufey's fictional release "Memories of Dusk," conceptualizing a musical journey from sunset euphoria to deep midnight emotions. In this design system, I used evolving gradient palettes that transition from warm pinks and oranges to deep blues and purples, visually representing the night's emotional progression.
For this project, I created a chimera, which is a fantastical creature made by combining different animal elements. In this illustration, I blended an elephant, a lion, and an octopus into a single, surreal being. The intricate details and textures were achieved using a hatching technique to create shadows and depth, giving the illustration a rich and dynamic look.
For this project, I created a fictional cultural magazine called "ANOTHER", designed as a publication dedicated to contemporary photography and emerging arts. In this layout, I blended different typographic elements and visual components to create a cohesive and modern editorial identity.
